Community in Motion
This summer, the Gonzaga College community has shown what it truly means to be “men for others”, with alumni taking on remarkable challenges in support of Andrew.
Since Andrew’s devastating accident in May 2025, his courage, resilience and positivity have inspired countless people and this summer, several Gonzaga alumni turned that inspiration into action.
Representing the Gonzaga Class of 2011, Enda Grogan, Jack Curtin, Stephen Murphy, Chris Arnold, Matthew Dooley and Mark McGahan took on the Ring of Kerry Cycle in Andrew’s honour.
Andrew coached the group during their first year of rugby at Gonzaga, leaving a lasting impression on them. Years later, they came together to give something back to the man who had encouraged and supported them as young students.
Ross Keating, from the Class of 2009, also stepped forward for Andrew, taking on the Waterford Marathon.
Ross first met Andrew when he arrived at Gonzaga as a first-year student. Andrew, then Vice-Captain of the school, made a lasting impression through his leadership, kindness and encouragement.
By challenging himself to complete the marathon, Ross embodied the values Andrew demonstrated to him all those years ago.
The summer’s extraordinary efforts continued with Jasper Walshe, who embarked on an ambitious expedition to climb the seven highest peaks in North Africa in just seven days.
Jasper’s challenge was about far more than reaching mountain summits. Every step represented solidarity with Andrew and served as a reminder that recovery is not a journey anyone should have to face alone.
Enda, Jack, Stephen, Chris, Matthew, Mark, Ross and Jasper have each demonstrated the strength of the Gonzaga community and the enduring impact Andrew has had on those around him. We are enormously grateful to them, and to everyone who supported, shared and contributed to their efforts.
A Taste of What’s to Come
That same spirit of friendship and service will continue at the upcoming Andrew Brennan Trust Fundraising Lunch.
We are privileged to have Stan O’Beirne, from the Gonzaga Class of 2022, performing at the event. It will be a special opportunity to hear this talented young alumnus play and to see another member of the Gonzaga community using his gifts in the service of others.
In addition, acclaimed singer-songwriter and Gonzaga alumnus Richard Farrell will take to the stage. Richard’s performance promises to be a wonderful highlight of the afternoon, bringing guests together through music as we celebrate the strength, generosity and enduring friendship surrounding Andrew.
With performances from Stan and Richard, alongside the support of the wider Gonzaga community, as well as extended family and friends, the Fundraising Lunch promises to be a memorable occasion filled with music, friendship and a shared determination to stand beside Andrew and his family.
